Got a question for everyone, hopefully Ron will catch this too. My buddy Jamie uses Sprint for his cell phone, and about two weeks ago his phone went into permanent "searching for network" mode. He took it in and the guy took it in the back to ask someone about it and not a minute later comes out and the only answer he had was "You need to get a new phone" after a bit going back and forth, the guy told Jamie Sprint updated their network and his phone is now obsolete and the only answer was a new phone. Jamie asked if they were going to replace it for free and he was told no, but if he signed a two year contract he'd get a new phone for free. That's when it hit him, he basically has less then two months on his current contract. He called Customer Care and explained that his phone wouldn't connect to the network and they instantly went into the "you need a new phone and if you sign a two year contract.." jabber. He argued that he has a two year contract for service, not a month and 10 months and since they made his phone not work anymore they should either a) give him a new phone that does work or b) terminate his contract without penalty. They gave him four options 1) Buy a new phone 2) Sign a two year contract get a free phone 3) Terminate Early and pay $150 or 4) Pay for the last two months and have a phone that doesn't connect to the network. He's switch to T-Mobile, and he hasn't terminated his contract yet. He's wondering what he can do because he really doesn't want to pay them for two months for nothing, but if he doesn't pay them then they'll just send him to collections, not to mention stick him with other charges. So is he just boned, or is there something he can do? I'm under the impression Sprint is playing the "The person will just pay in order to keep their credit clear, so in the end we screw them and get our money" game and banking that Jamie won't want to deal with it or doesn't know the loop hole to get out.

I have to ramble and vent..else I'm likely to cry and then commit a felony. I receive my cable bill for January/February on the 3rd and find that lovely Comcast@home has billed me the modem leasing fee for 2 months. When I call to have the charged removed , not only do they delete the charge, but all the serial #/MAC #'s for my modem--thus nukeing me off the net. Since 5pm Saturday, I have made in excess of 12 phone calls to correct the problem (basically they need to enter 2 sets of 10 digit #'s correctly). Thusfar, they appear to be incapable of entering the data correctly and have had to "reprovision" my account three times since Saturday afternoon. When prompted for a Customer Service Manager or director (or someone other than Tech Support), I continually get "...we don't have managers here..." I'm gonna guess that my last comment of "...No shit, that's pretty obvious." won't get my shit rigged up any quicker...50 hours and counting...

I've been trying to register new domain name for a web design business I hope to start. I've been forced to deal with Network Solutions Inc, as they are the current registrar. Basically, even though the domain is inactive (not in use) and expired (you basically rent them on a prepaid basis) for more than two months, they aren't going to let it go. They do it on an automated basis and no, they can't tell me when the deletion will happen. Their advice? Just keep trying to register it, they'll delete it eventually.
