Who is The MAN?

For our purposes, the MAN is the all-encompassing evil that makes nice, normal people into not-so-nice people. The MAN is arbitrary rules, petty dictatorship, and adherence to regulations in defiance of common sense.

The MAN is not any single person, group or even sex. There are plenty of women out there who are the MAN. The MAN extends beyond all boundaries and permeates our culture; it's almost like the Dark Side of the Force.

Of course, we want to know what you think too (if we didn't, then we'd be The MAN). What do you think should be the ultimate definition of the MAN?

I came driving home from Lansing (don't ask me why I was in Lansing...) and I saw that the Police had blocked off an entire section of the west-bound expressway where I-96 and 275 come together. There were Michigan State Police barrakades at each end and Motorcycle Policemen at each emergency turn-around coupled with a steady pulse of Police caravans of squad cars headed West. Every car and motorcycle had it's lights flashing... quite a show of force I'd say. It really illustrated to me how much brute power these guys have... to be able to shut down an expressway and wreck the travel plans of miles (7 miles to be exact... seven miles of solid cars stacked bumper to bumper and 4 cars wide... a whole lot of steel.) of people is surely someone who is the Man.
